They Say the cream always rises

The winner of Irish Blackball Association Event 1 of the 2016/17 Tour Season is no stranger to success on this Island but usually it's playing on Ireland's other Tour playing World Rules.

But what do rules matter to the elite of pool? nought. You adapt and master all so that at the end of the day it's still about potting 7 colours and the black before your opponent.
So. Karl O Donoghue wins. Again. No Surprise you say.
But it wasn't all easy en-route to victory. Topping his group, simples. Last 64 knockout to qualify for sunday, standard fare, wins 7-2.
Open Draw Sunday for last 32 and who does he get? Wayne Neeson, regular Top of the Dublin Pool Food Chain.
Karl survived a hill-hill confrontation to make last 16 and then qtrs before another scare in semifinal.
Another Dub, YoungGun Sean O'Neill also pushed him all the way, also going hill-hill. Karl missed black to win but left Sean awkward bridging on final ball. Sean made the pot but scratched and handed the win to Karl.
Another 2 Dublin players stood in his way in semis and final. Jason Ward multiple tour winner and Niall Docherty. Karl made mincemeat of them both as he steamrolled his way with 7-0 and 7-1 wins respectably.

The Plate: Old Stagers Fight it Out!

Both Finalists may have not featured in Main draw on this occasion but they showed no mercy once in the Plate section en-route to the finals.

No close score lines for either player until they met in the final. Keith Cahill on this occasion got the best of Peter Noonan in a hill-hill match going 5-4 keith's way.
